Sweethearts of the Prison Rodeo is a feature documentary about the country's only Behind the Walls Rodeo. Since 1940, McAlester Oklahoma has hosted the Oklahoma State Prison Rodeo, and in 2006 women inmates were allowed for the first time to compete against the male inmates. This film follows these convict cowgirls on their way to the rodeo.

The film had great potential and one riveting character (the woman convicted of murder who was about to be released on parole) - but most of the interviews became repetitive and boring. Beasley never succeeded in drawing out his subjects enough to provide us with any important insights.
