OH MY GOD LOOK WHO IS COMING TO deadCENTER
Legendary Filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman to Attend Ninth Annual deadCENTER Film Festival
Troma Film founder to appear in film, on panel, and as filmmaker at 2009 film fest.
Oklahoma City deadCENTER Film Festival confirmed today that legendary filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman will be in attendance on Friday, June 12, 2009.
Kaufman appears in the film “Official Rejection” and will contribute to the panel immediately following the film. deadCENTER will also screen the latest release from his company Troma Studios titled “Poultrygeist – Night of the Chicken Dead”.
The creator of The Toxic Avenger, Lloyd Kaufman has been making films for more than 40 years. He is president and co-founder of Troma Studios, the world’s longest-running independent film company. He is also founder of the TromaDance Film Festival.
“Lloyd Kaufman is a modern independent film icon. His participation in our movie, Official Rejection, and the panel following it, is extremely thrilling for us, because no discussion of the world of indies, including the difficulties of the film festival circuit, can be complete without it. He has seen the evolution of modern alternative cinema and is one of the only people in the world truly qualified to comment on its state. Plus he shows his naked rear end in our documentary...so there's that,” states Official Rejection director, Paul Osborne.
In honor of Kaufman’s appearance at the festival, deadCENTER is hosting a screening of the latest film from Troma Studios, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. Touted as cinema’s first chicken-zombie-horror-comedy, complete with musical numbers, Poultrygeist embeds a political message about corporate takeovers with traditional Tromatic “grindhouse” fun. < /span>
All-Access Passes are required to attend the panel. (All-Access Passes are 20% off through June 1, 2009). Individual tickets to screenings are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at all venues. All Access Pass-holders are granted first seating at all screenings. To learn more about the film screenings, times, venues, educational panels…or just to stay in the deadCENTER of indie film action, please visit us at: www.deadcenterfilm.org.
